...Button Embellished Blackboard

I bought some chalkboards from Typo a few months ago thinking that I'd be able to jazz them up, but they've been in storage and I've only just managed to get my hands on one!

Here is a quick and easy way to spruce up an old frame of any sort, by simply using these few items-
Old/new frame (in this case, a chalkboard)
Paint sample pot
Paint brush
small roller
Buttons
PVA/Craft glue
newspaper (so not to get paint or glue on your workbench!!)

Collect all of your supplies and lay them out on your newspaper covered workbench
Prepare your frame by sanding or priming if it's an older piece, as you don't want your paint peeling off in the future.
Paint your frame in the desired shade. you may need more than one layer, depending on the surface, but I felt that one coat was sufficient for mine.
I used a small sponge roller for the main part, and a small paint brush for the edges and rim. Do what works best for you!

Let your paint dry.
Select a pretty array of buttons. I am a bit of a girly girl (if you hadn't already noticed) so I love pastels and lighter colours, but i could imagine this would look pretty cool with bolder, brighter colours such as reds and greens and yellows etc. all depends on your style and decor!

Squeeze some glue onto your button and place it where you like.

Be sparing with your glue, but not too tight as your really want the buttons to stay in place.

You can see in my pictures that the glue has gaped through-I later removed this with damp paper towel as I didn't want lumps and bumps, but the glue will dry clear anyway so it really shouldn't matter.

Place your buttons in whatever configuration you desire, then let your glue dry.

Ta da! Too easy!!

Depending what day it is, you may see this post at any of these fabulous parties!
